The 8th grade White Team Wildcats were effective on both sides of the ball and came away with a 20-0 victory.
Eugene Mapps and Nick Mitchell each scored a touchdown, and Demontre Ainsworth had a two-point conversion. The defense held the Rabbits scoreless and were led by Zachary DelaGarza, Kaleb Long, and Cole Mitchell.
The Paris 8th grade blue team defeated the Atlanta Rabbits 14-10 for its first district win of the season. The Cats fell behind, 10-0, in the first quarter, before rallying for the win.
Trae Dudley and Donovan Williams led the rushing attack for the Cats. The Cats offensive line included, Elija Hickerson, Keshawn Ellis, Jesus Moreno, Dezmond Tinajero, and Jalen Easter.
Donovan Williams scored from 10 yards out for the Cats’ first score , while Dudley added the two point to cut the lead to 10-8 late in the 3rd quarter.
Josh Robinson had several key third-down runs to move the chains for the Cats in the fourth quarter. Daz Mason scored from 15 yards out on a pass from Robinson to put the Cats up 14-10 with just 34 seconds left. Defensively, Keyshawn Ellis, Montana Payne, Zion King, and Jordan Furtch made big plays all night for the cats.
The game in Atlanta was the beginning of district play for the younger Paris Junior High seventh grade White team, which came away with a 22-0 win.
Walker Preston and Anqurrus Harris led the way for the Wildcats. Preston had a touchdown and a two point conversion, and Harris had two touchdowns and a two-point conversion.
Darius Ellis and Nick Leija led the way on the offensive line for the Cats. Defensively, Brian Wilson and Harris forced fumbles and Issac Vasquez had a fumble recovery. Sahil Prakash had great linebacker play, and Jack Davidson had two pass deflections.
The Paris Junior High seventh grade Blue team also open up district play against the Rabbits, but lost 32-0. Offensively for the Cats, Jaylen Henderson, Tycorius Garvin and James Neal ran the ball well. Defensively, TJ Williams led the Wildcats. The Wildcats will be traveling to Pittsburg Thursday for their second district game.
