As we start a new week, heat appears to dominate the area. The National Weather Service predicts a 45% chance of precipitation today, most likely in the afternoon. This won’t change much, the heat index will still be close or over 100 degrees, with temperatures rising towards 95 degrees throughout the day.
Always use precautions if spending time outdoors. Drink plenty of water and stay near shade or shelter to cool off. Know the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke; these are emergency situations that could very dangerous to your health.
Even with this slight (45%) chance of rain and scattered thunderstorms this afternoon, it appears that the heat will stay in place during the week and only rise towards Friday.

Tuesday and Wednesday provide slightly higher temperatures, while Thursday the high temperatures for our area will be over 100 degrees. This is not good news for those areas that are experiencing drought.

Stay cool this week, and if you work or spend numerous hours outside, please heed to warnings for your safety. The heat can be very dangerous when precautions are not taken. Drink plenty of water.
