DWTS was started by Leadership Lamar County in 2010 was a very successful fund raiser for several years. Recently, Leadership Lamar County changed their focus and decided not to do a large fund raiser this year.
The Lamar County Chamber of Commerce contacted nonprofit organizations to see who might want to partnership with the Chamber to continue DWTS. Lamar County Crime Stoppers was chosen by the Chamber after several proposals were reviewed.
This event is patterned from the TV show Dancing with the Stars. Each local dancer is partnered with a professional dancer from the Dallas Studio 22. This is the studio where Emmitt Smith and Mark Cuban practiced when they were on the TV version of Dancing with the Stars.
Each couple will dance 3 dances – ball room dance, Latin dance and swing dance.
The audience will be entertained by Blue Suitcase while they enjoy a meal by Catering 4 You. A cash bar will be provided by Buffalo Joe’s. Frankie Norwood will auction several items between dance sets.
Sponsorship opportunities are available from $650 – $5,000. Information about sponsorships can be found on the Lamar County Crime Stoppers website, www.lamarcountycrimestoppers.info or www.785tips.com.
Individual tickets are $50.00 each and are available on the Lamar County Crime Stoppers website.
Proceeds from DWTS benefit Lamar County Crime Stoppers and Lamar Chamber of Commerce. Lamar County Crime Stoppers will use the funds for board member training, publicity, promotion and other administrative functions.
