John Chisum Days coming to the Fairgrounds
The local V.F.W. Post 3990 is hosting “John Chisum Days” at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds May 2-4th. The event will include live entertainment each day, a western costume contest, vendors displaying old west craft demonstrations and a chuck wagon cook-off on Saturday at noon.
Meal Tickets for the cook-off are $10 each (children under 5 eat free) and are available from members of the Paris High School FFA or the the Chisum High School Cheerleaders. During the cook-off many different styles and types of authentic chuck wagons will be on display.
The John Chisum Days are Friday, May 2nd from 4pm-9pm; Saturday May 3rd from 9am-6pm and Sunday May 4th from 9am-4pm.
The V.F.W. Post 3990 has also put a call out to all local are musicians that the event directors welcome all country, folk, hillbilly and bluegrass musicians to come and play at the Chisum Days as space and time allows. This is an acoustic only event and no electric instruments or equipment may be used. For those interested, contact Bud Mackey at 903-732-3869.
