Wildcats Top All-District Boys Soccer Awards
The list was headed by senior Blake Beshirs who was named District MVP. Beshirs scored 19 goals and a team-high 18 assists in 2014 to cap off a brilliant 4-year run on varsity which saw him accumulate 52 career goals.
Beshirs missed the Cats’ bi-district playoff match vs. The Colony with an injury, and the Paris attack sputtered without his midfield presence in a 2-1 loss.
Senior Michael Cade, the team’s leading scorer with 26 goals and 11 assists, was named co-Offensive MVP along with Princeton sophomore Aljandro Reveles. Cade finished his 4-year stint with 55 career goals.
Junior Leonel Gutierrez shared Defensive MVP honors with North Lamar’s Sam Erickson. Gutierrez anchored a Wildcat defense that posted a remarkable 20 shutouts in regulation.
Paris High head boys soccer coach Jeremy Beshirs was named Coach of the Year. Beshirs has posted a 93-20-10 record with 2 district titles in 5 years at the helm of the Wildcat soccer program.
Other first-team selections for Paris were:
- Junior midfielder Jesus Ruiz (7 goals, 7 assists)
- Senior defender Zane Young
- Sophomore defender Aldredo Medina
- Senior forward Ben Whitaker (10 goals, 7 assists)
- Senior forward Josh Kirby (14 goals, 10 assists)
Second-team selections were senior defender Jackson Reeves, senior goalkeeper Angel Rocha, senior forward Dylan Kresen, and junior midfielder Jose Escobedo. Receiving honorable mention were juniors Adrian Vasquez, Edgar Alvarez, Matt McAmis, Alain Garcia, and seniors Jesus Herrera, Alfredo Gonzalez, Cody Redus, Victor Guzman, Gustavo Luna, Kenny Mason, and Diego Torrez.
