Local Team Wins Paris Homeshcool Basketball Tournament

Screen Shot 2014-02-16 at 3.31.41 PMThe Paris Homeschool Basketball teams hosted their 3rd Annual Paris Hoops Tournament February 6th-8th, at the Travis Jr High School, in Paris, TX.  It was an 8-team varsity tournament for boys and girls with teams coming from all over North Texas.

The Romeo Prep Blue Knights from Paris took the championship game win against the Grayson Falcons from Sherman, 64-53.  The Paris Homeschool Warriors played the CHAAMP Hawks from Mt Pleasant earlier in the day which ended in the 47-45 3rd place victory for the Warriors.  The CHESS Knights JV boys from Sulphur Springs won consolation over Trinity Christian Academy from Paris.

For the girls, Dallas HSAA South Lady Blue Angels won the championship game against the CHESS Lady Knights, 50-34. The Paris Homeschool Lady Warriors played the CHAAMP Hawks earlier in the day which ended with a 62-11 3rd place victory for the Lady Warriors.  Paris Lady Warriors JV girls won consolation over Bethel Christian Lady Lions from Pittsburg.

Several local players were selected for the All-Tournament teams:  For the boys, #1 Cordell Tarpley (Romeo Prep), #22 Austin Bush (Paris Warriors), and #11 Tavarius Mason (Romeo Prep).  For the girls: Hannah Heatwole (Paris Lady Warriors JV) and #13 Brittany VanDerWilt (Paris Lady Warriors).

Special events were also held including free throws, 3-point, and hot shot competitions.  Bri Vallance (Paris Lady Warriors) won 1st place 3-point shooter and the Paris Lady Warriors won the team free throw competition.  Austin Bush (Paris Warriors) won the boys free throw competition and 3-point shooter and Truman Lee (Paris Warriors) won the hot shot competition.

Plans are already being made for the 4th Annual Paris Hoops Tournament 2015, which is scheduled to be held in early-February, 2015.

The Paris Area Homeschool Athletic Association (PAHAA) is in its 7th season and currently offers competitive basketball to homeschooled students ages 10 & up.  For more information, see their website at www.chiptexas.org.
