Bri Calabria both hit and pitched well for Lady Patriots, but it wasn’t enough as Lady Patriots fell to Dekalb 9-4 on Wednesday.
Lady Patriots was led by Bri’s hitting. Bri went 2-3, drove in one and scored two runs. She singled in the fourth inning and homered in the sixth inning.
Bri put together a nice outing. Dekalb managed just one hit off of the Lady Patriots’ pitcher, who allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out seven during her three innings of work.
Dekalb was sparked by two players, who teamed up for seven hits and eight RBIs.
Madi Gray was charged with the loss. She allowed eight runs in four innings, walked one and struck out four.
The lead stayed with Dekalb after the first, when it scored two runs on a two-run single.
Dekalb piled on five more runs in the top of the fourth.
After pushing across three runs in the bottom of the fourth, Lady Patriots faced just a 8-3 deficit. A three-run home run by Bailey Woodard set off Lady Patriots rally. Finally, the Dekalb pitcher got Carlee Taylor to strike out to end the threat.
After pushing across one run in the bottom of the sixth, Lady Patriots faced just a 8-4 deficit. A solo home run by Bri fueled Lady Patriots’ comeback. #1 ended the inning by getting Bailey to ground out.
