Pantherettes crush Lady Cats to open second half of District Softball

The North Lamar Pantherettes started the second half of district play much like they did the first half – with a convincing and dominating win over the Paris High Lady Cats.

North Lamar scored in all four innings, including 11 in the second inning for a 16-0 route over the Lady Cats. During the second inning, the Pantherettes hit three home runs, including a Grand Slam from Tanna Huie. Freshman Bailee Nickerson and Erin Scholl went back-to-back earlier in the inning before North Lamar loaded the bases. North Lamar scored 10 of the 11 runs in the second inning with two outs. Nickerson also had a two-run single in the first inning, giving her four RBI on the night.

Lauren Coursey started the game on the mound for North Lamar and pitched 2.0 innings while allowing only one hit. She also struck out three. Sarah Penrose finished the game on the mound for the Pantherettes. Penrose pitched 3.0 innings, gave up one hit and struck out four batters. Neither pitcher walked anyone.
