Lady Patriots drops 7-5 game to Mt. Vernon despite efforts of Chelsea Kimberling

Prairiland Patriot LogoChelsea Kimberling did all she could to give Lady Patriots a boost, but it wasn’t enough to get past Mt. Vernon, as Lady Patriots lost 7-5 in seven innings on Tuesday.

Chelsea had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. She doubled in the third inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Bri Calabria took the loss for Lady Patriots. She allowed six runs in five innings, walked one and struck out four.

The game was never in doubt after the first, as Mt. Vernon scored three runs on a three-run home run.

One run in the bottom of the third helped Lady Patriots close its deficit to 3-1. An RBI double by Lauren Miller gave Lady Patriots life. Macy Madewell struck out to end the Lady Patriots threat.

Lady Patriots scored one run in the bottom of the fourth to cut its deficit to one. An error fueled the Lady Patriots’ comeback.

Mt. Vernon added three more runs in the top of the fifth.

Three runs in the bottom of the seventh helped Lady Patriots close its deficit to 7-5. An RBI single by Dani Hunter and a two-run home run by Chelsea sparked Lady Patriots’ rally.
