Puetz Wins Third Powerlifting Meet

phighlogo1Senior Austin Puetz remains a perfect 3-for-3 for the current season after coming from behind on the final platform to win his weight class at Saturday’s S&S Consolidated Powerlifting Championships.

Puetz won the 114-pound weight class by a 25-pound total over Juan Salazar of Bonham, who took a 415-405 lead over Puetz into the last of three platforms, the dead lift.  Puetz recorded a 315-pound lift in the finale while Salazar managed just 280.

The Paris boys team finished eighth overall in the meet which drew 198 lifters.  The Paris girls were scheduled to compete at S&S on Thursday, but their meet was cancelled due to winter weather.

The next action for the Paris lifters will be Thursday, Feb. 20, when they host the annual Wildcat Powerlifting Meet at the Paris Junior High gym.  It starts at 4 p.m.
