The Atlanta Rabbits are probably glad they don’t have to come back to Paris this year. A week after losing to the Paris High Wildcats 119-27, the Rabbits got trounced by North Lamar 88-50. It was a much-needed win for the Panthers after the tough loss on Friday to Liberty Eylau.
The Rabbits did their best to keep it close in the first quarter as they only trailed 19-17 after one quarter of action. The second quarter, though, is where North Lamar showed their dominance. North Lamar outscored the Rabbits 21-12 in that quarter to start pulling ahead by 11 at the break. North Lamar outscored Atlanta 48-21 in the second half for the blowout win.
Hunter Sartor once again led the team as he dropped in 26 points. Levi Porter was close behind with 25. Both players also led the team in steals with three apiece.
With the win, North Lamar moves to 6-2 in district play. If they win their final two games, they can claim the district title. Winning both won’t be easy as Friday night they travel across town to face the red-hot Paris Wildcats. North Lamar already defeated the Wildcats once this year. If Paris wins, they will be district champions.
