Prior to his senior year, David Murdock had never played football. This year, though, he decided to give a try and has been impressing the Prairiland coaches all year.
“He is definitely a leader, not vocally, but by example,” Coach Chris Frisby said.
Murdock led the Patriots last week in receiving yards. The tight end had four catches for 76 yards in the homecoming loss to Queen City. Besides playing football, Murdock plays basketball and also plays Tennis.
“In the four years that I’ve known and coached David I can’t recall him ever being late or having a discipline matter,” Frisby said.
Not only has he excelled as an athlete but David as also excelled in the class room as well. David is All-A Honor Roll student at Prairiland. His coaches added that he is extremely responsible in the classroom and does really well.
When he’s not playing sports and studying, Murdock said he loves spending time with his family and friends.
When told that he had been selected to be the Orr Honda’s athlete of the week, Murdock said, “I’m shocked and honored by it.”
Firsby added, “My opinion, I think David is a person that can have a positive effect on his peers and community just by his actions. We need more bright young leaders like David these days.”
