On Friday night at R.L. Maddox stadium, the North Lamar Panthers will begin the second half to the football season. Not only is it the second half, but it’s also the start of District 13-3A play. The Panthers finished 2-3 during the pre-District part of the schedule with their two wins coming against Canton and Quinlan Ford.
North Lamar’s final game before District play was in Quinlan and saw the Panthers put together a domnating performance to win the game 38-24. In the win, the Panthers defense held Quinlan Ford to only seven points in the second half. The Panthers’ defense will have to step up Friday as they host the Pittsburg Pirates.
Pittsburg comes to town with a 2-3 record as well but they are in the midst of a three-game losing streak. In the five games, though, the Pirates have averaged 29 points per game, and that includes a game in which they didn’t score any points. On the other side of the ball, they are giving up 28 points per game so North Lamar should be able to move the ball against them. Of course none of that matters once they hit the field. Kick off is set for 7:30 at R.L Maddox Stadium.
