On Friday, Aug. 30, the North Lamar Panthers will open the 2013 football season against Commerce at R.L. Maddox stadium. While some positions are essentially locked down for the Panthers, coach Tommy Felty and his staff are still evaluating some players.
On Friday morning, they will have the ability to do just that. North Lamar will travel to Daingerfield for a 9 a.m. scrimmage. This will be the last scrimmage before the opening week and Felty knows the importance of this one.
“We’re still looking at some players,” Felty said.
He was also quick to point out that some of the players are sitting on the bubble and could find themselves on the outside looking in after Friday. This scrimmage will see some controlled plays for the offense and defense. There will also be a live scrimmage. There will be a 30 minute running clock and both teams will play as if they were playing next Friday night.
