I can hear what you’re saying, “What? Lace up the shoes? You want me to run?” No not exactly. However, I do want you to put those tennis shoes on and get outside. “Why?,” you ask. Let me tell you.
This past weekend we changed our clocks forward. Although we may have lost an hour of sleep in the process, we gained something of much more value – daylight. That’s right, now the sun is going down later than before. Springtime is around the corner and there are activities and events for the whole family to get you outside. Soccer and baseball are gearing up for the kids. From preschool kids to high school, sports are being played every day of the week.
The Trail de Paris is also a great place to take the family on walks or bike rides. I know of one family that would walk down the trail looking at different flowers and birds. They made it a learning experience as well as some family time. Of course these are the only activities you can do. Downtown Paris has made it convenient for people to walk from store to store. With promotions, restaurants, and places to shop walking the streets can be enjoyable for the family.
Paris offers many things for the families to do outside and together. Tonight, I would encourage you to do something unconventional. After dinner, turn off the television and the video games and take the family outside. Play some basketball or throw a baseball. Fly a kite or throw a frisbee. It doesn’t matter what you do, but it does matter who you do it with. Getting outside teaches your kids to be active. Who knows. It might also instill some family values in the process.
