North Lamar Boys Soccer Results

NL LOGONorth Lamar kept their playoff hopes alive by beating Princeton in regulation 3-1 on Tuesday night. North Lamar needed the win to push past Princeton in the point standings. Midway through the first half, Abraham Costillo scored to give the Panthers the 1-0 lead that lasted till the half. However, Princeton started the second half with a goal in less than 18 seconds. Tied at 1-1, North Lamar’s defense of Malachi Porter, Preston Waters and Jose Cortes, had to hold off the momentum of Princeton till Jake Roberson scored on a penalty kick with 28 minutes left. North Lamar kept up the pressure as Sam Erickson scored to make it 3-1. Goalie Logan Thompson punched out several Princeton shots toward the end of the game to help seal the win.
“This was a team tonight” said Head Coach Lance Johnson. “We played as a team. Each player stepped up and played hard. I am proud of their efforts.”

North Lamar Junior Varsity won their first game of the year with a 2-1 victory over the Princeton JV. Tied 0-0 at half, Princeton scored midway through the 2nd half. North Lamar made it exciting, as Garrett Douglas scored on a header from a throw in with 8 minutes left in the game. A few minutes later, Tristan Martinez shot from the right side to put North Larmar ahead for the win.

“I can not say enough of how proud I am of these young men. They all played so well and tough. They never quit” said Coach Mark Caldwell.

North Lamar will play again at RL Maddox on Friday, the 8th, against Greenville. JV will begin at 530pm and Varsity at 7:15.
