North Lamar Pantherettes Kick Off Season with Win

Friday night the North Lamar Pantherettes began the softball season in the right direction. The temperatures may have been in the lower 40’s but the North Lamar bats were anything but cold. The Pantherettes put up eight runs on nine hits as they defeated Community 8 – 7 in front of the hometown friends.

North Lamar scored all eight runs in the first four innings, highlighted by a three run homer off the bat of Heather Hodges. After Hodges home run, the Pantherettes took a 5-2 lead into the fourth inning. However, Community would load the bases and a grand slam later would hold a 6-5 lead. North Lamar would take the lead back as they scored three in the bottom of the fourth. Community would score once more in the sixth inning to make the score 8-7. North Lamar wouldn’t give up any more and would hold on for the victory.
