About the only thing wrong with Tuesday night’s game for the North Lamar Panthers was the first quarter. North Lamar hosted Pittsburg in a district showdown and after a slow start, the Panthers did what they needed to do to get the job done.
After one quarter, the Panthers held a slim 5 – 2 lead. After that quarter, though, the Panthers would correct the sluggish start on their way to a 50 – 18 win over the Pirates. North Lamar used a very strong defensive effort to hold the Pirates to such a low score.
“We’re just trying to get better each game,” said Coach Garner after the win.
Along with the tremendous defense, the Panthers got scoring from each player on the team. With the win, the Panthers are now 4-2 in district play, which is good enough for third place currently. The boys will be in action again on Friday night as they host Liberty Eylau.
The Panthers were led in scoring by Buc Odie and Ian Dukleth, each with 13. Adrian Ellis and Austin Anthony each had seven. Ryan Robinson had three. Devin McDonald, Darius Johnson, and Kirk Sellers had two each. Dakota Ashlock finished with one point.
