PARIS – It didn’t take long for the North Lamar Pantherettes to take control of their game against cross-town rival Paris High on Monday night. North Lamar jumped out to an early 8 – 0 lead as they cruised to a 70 – 36 win over Paris High.
From the beginning of the game, the North Lamar varsity squad played with an intensity that couldn’t be matched by Paris. The Pantherettes held an 18 – 5 lead after the first period and would stretch it to 33 – 11 at the halftime break.
The LadyCats could only manage to put together a few streaks of more than one basket before the Pantherettes would stop it and go on a run of their own. After three quarters in the Wildcat gymnasium, the visiting North Lamar squad held a commanding 48 – 26 lead.
North Lamar was led in scoring by Samantha Flippen, who poured in 23 points. Haley Hostetler added 19 while Lexie Chancellor had 14 for North Lamar. Cozy Brown and Kara Erickson each had four points while Hannah Igleheart and Haley Puckett finished with two points apiece.
Flippen, Chancellor, and Hostetler all grabbed eight rebounds for North Lamar. Erickson had six assists and Igleheart finished with four assists.
