North Lamar 8th Grade Boys Win Third at Van Alstyne Tournament

NL LOGOThe 8th grade Boys Basketball Team won two games and lost one at Van Alstyne last Saturday.

In game one the Panthers came out sluggish and lost to Whitewright 45-38.  Menderiz Grey led the Panthers with 22 points.  Jake Stewart added 7 points and led the team in rebounds and Sam Cowling had 4.

In game two against Gunter, the Panthers came out hot as Maverick Priest hit two 3′s in the first quarter and Kyle Terry added another as NL roared out to a  19-4 lead.  The Panthers never looked back as 11 different players scored and NL won 49-22.  Javon Franklin had 9 points for NL, Priest scored 8, John Folse scored 6 and Dylan Huffman hit a 3 and scored 5 points.

In game three against the home team Van Alstyne, the Panthers led by one going into the 4th quarter.  NL finished strong, outscoring VA 17-6 in the 4th quarter for a 40-28 win.  Menderiz Gray led the offensive attack again with 17 points.  Strong defense and rebounding by Tyler Biard, Jake Stewart, Dakota Grissom and Ty Waggoner led to many fast breaks for NL.  10 different Panthers scored in the game as NL moved to 4-4 on the year.
