Voche ‘ Martin scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to lead the Lady Dragons of Paris Junior College to a 52-44 victory Saturday over the Lady Roadrunners of Angelina College.

Paris took the early lead and never gave it up, although Angelina pulled to within 23-21 at halftime. The Lady Dragons’ largest lead was 12-2.

PJC opened a seven- to eight-point lead early in the second half  before Angelina scored seven straight to get back into the game.

“We found a way to finish it with a win, but it wasn’t a good game at all for us,” Lady Dragons coach Sean LeBeauf said. “Our kids are just not as tough as they need to be.”

PJC’s women go to Jacksonville on Tuesday for a 5:30 p.m. game preceding the 7:30 p.m. contest between the men’s teams from the two schools.

Saturday, PJC returns to the Hunt Center for a game against defending national champion Trinity Valley, whose only loss this season was a forfeit because over half the team was forced to sit out two games for leaving the bench during an on-court altercation.
