Male body found near railroad tracks
“Paris police officers are on the scene of the discovery of a deceased male near the intersection of 10th NW and W. Center,” Police Chief Bob Hundley said on Sunday in a press release sent just before 9 p.m.
“Officers are working to make a positive identification of the individual,” Hundley said. “The area where the body was found is close to the area where missing 18-year old, Russell Gage Kennedy, was last seen Thursday night.”
Hundley said that a person who had taken a shortcut on a rail spur saw the person on the north side of the railroad tracks in some dense underbrush more than 60 yards from the street.
According to a police press release on Saturday, there had been no report of a missing person from the family at the time, but officers made contact with Kennedy’s mother who informed police that he had left the residence at around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday and had never returned home.
The body was found in close proximity to where Mr. Kennedy was last seen, police say, but no official positive identification has been released.
“More information will be released as it becomes available,” Chief Hundley said on Sunday.
