Sheriff's dept. arrests two for theft of livestock
The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office was contacted on February 24 regarding missing livestock from a pasture located in the southeast part of Lamar County on FM 1497.
The complainant said that two out of the seven of his heifers were missing, according to Lamar County Sheriff Scott Cass.
As he searched for his missing livestock, he found the two heifers checked into the local livestock commission for sale on Saturday, March 1, under the name Stoney Stout.
The complainant positively identified the missing heifers by his ear notch and photographs of the cattle that he’d taken prior to the incident, and the cattle were recovered by law enforcement at the sale facility, the sheriff said.
Sheriff Detective, Lt. Kevin Jenkins, and Special Ranger Tony Hurley, with the Texas Cattle Raisers Association, are currently working on the investigation.
Stoney Stout, 20, and Derrick Blake, 19, were arrested on warrants for the theft of livestock and are being held at the Lamar County Jail on $5000 bonds.
