Weekend traffic stop in Paris results in weapons charge against two out-of-town men
Paris police responded to 289 calls for service over the weekend, resulting in 23 arrests, police department spokesman Curtis Garrett said.
Randy Laval Wooten Jr., 25, of Paris has been jailed on a total of $60,000 bond in connection with reports he choked his girlfriend and threatened her with a knife, police department spokesman Curtis Garrett said.
The arrest came on Saturday after police officers responded to a disturbance call to the 900 block of Pine Bluff Street.
According to jail records, Wooten is shown as living in the 600 block of East Cherry Street.
Late Friday night, police arrested Jay Howard Pack, 46, of Garland and Donald Lee Buchheit, 22, of Gun Barrel City after a traffic stop in the 700 block o f Church Street.
Police department spokesman Curtis Garrett said the driver gave permission to search the vehicle, which was also occupied by two other men. Garrett said officers found marijuana and hand guns inside the vehicle.
Pack was charged with possession of less than 2 ounces of marijuana and with unlawful carrying of a weapon. Buchheit was charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon. Bond was set at $2,000 on the weapon charge and $1,000 on the marijuana charge.
Both men were booked into jail about 3 a.m. Saturday and were released on bond about six hours later, jail records show.
