Reno Police involved in vehicle pursuit; 2-year-old passenger in fleeing car
The Reno Police Department was involved in a high-speed vehicle pursuit on Sunday, according to Reno Police Chief Matt Birch.
On January 27th, while patrolling the 6600 block of Pine Mill Road, Reno Police observed a vehicle traveling east on Pine Mill with an expired registration and inspection sticker. Because of these violations, the officer attempted to perform a traffic stop on the vehicle.
As the officer turned around on the vehicle, the vehicle sped away south on Anderson Road; prompting a police pursuit. The vehicle continued to evade the officer by turning west onto Inwood Street at a very high rate of speed. The chase then continued onto Harvard Street and then onto Knollwood Street, which is a dead end road.
“There the pursuit ended when the officer exited his patrol car and ordered the vehicle to stop and for the driver to exit the car,” stated Reno Police Chief Matt Birch. “At this time, it was discovered that there was a 2-year-old child passenger in the car as well.”
Arrested was Latharian Davon Huff, 21 years old, of Brookston. He was charged with Felony Evading Arrest, Endangering a Child, Possession of Marijuana less than 2 ounces, and driving while license invalid. He was taken to Lamar County Jail where he was booked in.
