Paris Police had a busy weekend - Press Release, November 12

Paris Police Officers were very busy over the past 72 hours, according to Public Information Officer Curtis Garrett.

Twenty eight persons were arrested on various charges including one for Aggravated Assault, one for Evading Arrest with a vehicle, one for Possession of a Controlled Substance, one for Possession of Marijuana, one for Felony Theft, one for Criminal Trespass, one for Fail to Identify, one for Driving While Intoxicated, six for misdemeanor warrants, three for class B theft, and thirteen for Class C misdemeanor warrants and on view charges.

On November 09, 2012, 32 year old Amanda McCann was arrested on a Felony Motion to Revoke Probation warrant while being investigated for a theft charge. McCann was placed in the Lamar County Jail.

Officers responded to a disturbance in the 1600 block of E Washington St and located a subject that had been cut with a knife. 33 year old Lactonya Pye McCarty of Paris was arrested for Aggravated assault with a Deadly Weapon and placed in jail.

At about 8:46 P.M. on November 11, 2012, Officers responded to a theft call in the 1800 block of Bonham St. upon investigation of the reported theft, Officers arrested 31 year old Dexter Earl McCurry, III of Paris and he was charged with a felony when it was found that he had at least 2 previous convictions for theft. Also arrested in this incident was 41 year old Eric McClendon for the theft and Criminal Trespassing.

On November 09, 2012 a victim came to the Police Department and reported that she had been raped in the 800 block of Lamar Avenue by a known suspect. The victim advised that she had went to this location to buy some synthetic marijuana when the suspect asked her if she wanted to smoke some with him. When she agreed, they entered the suspect’s vehicle and the suspect forced her to have sex with him. The incident is under investigation.

Paris Police responded to 114 calls for service November 09, 2012, 84 calls for service on November 10, 2012, and 68 calls for service on November 11, 2012.
