Police arrest juvenile in stolen car after a short chase

At about 01:30am on October 12, 2012, Paris Police observed a black Jeep Cherokee run a red light at the intersection of Clarksville St and SE 3rd St.

The Officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but when the officer activated the cruiser’s overhead lights, the vehicle rapidly gained speed and attempted to evade the officer by making several quick turns.

During the pursuit, the dispatcher had made an inquiry on the reported tag number finding that the vehicle had been reported stolen from Henderson County, Texas.

The pursuit ended in the 700 block of Ash St where the vehicle became disabled. The driver of the vehicle then fled the scene on foot but was apprehended a short time later.

The 16 year old driver was arrested and later transported to the Hunt County Juvenile Detention Center. Found in the Jeep was a loaded .40 caliber handgun and marijuana.

On October 11, 2012, Paris Police arrested Marcus Hooker, 18, of Paris on a warrant for aggravated robbery stemming from a reported incident on September 9th.
