PJC golfer Zac Oliver named 1st Team All American

Pyro_PJC_SliderChilly, wet and windy conditions prevailed each day at the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division I tournament at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington, Iowa, last week. Despite the conditions, Paris Junior College golfer Zac Oliver was named First Team All American thanks to his play. He tied for fifth place and the team came in sixteenth overall.

“The golf course was demanding,” said PJC golf coach David Johnson. “Zac played really well and I was really proud of him. He played well for all four rounds and deserved to make All American. The golf course was the really big winner, it was just a hard course.”

Oliver’s honor came on the heels of an announcement last week by the Golf Coaches Association of America. That group named to the NJCAA Division I PING Second Team All-America and to the NJCAA Division I PING All District II Team Oliver.

The Dragons golf team ended with a total score of 1264 from four days of play. Oliver had rounds of 72, 72, 77, and 78 for a total of 298. Logan Dent had 79, 79, 82, and 82 for a total of 322; Jeremy Salas was 85, 82, 79 and 79 for 325; Tyler Dunbar had 77, 92, 79 and 79 for 327; and Oliver Stephens had 86, 84, 87 and 82 for 339.
