Lady Patriots makes the most of 8 hits in 7-5 victory over Hughes Springs

Hughes Springs had nine hits compared with Lady Patriots’ eight, but Hughes Springs stranded seven runners on base.

Lady Patriots staved off Hughes Springs as Hughes Springs was unable to match Lady Patriots down the stretch.

Hughes Springs scored on an RBI single by Roach and an RBI single by Crossland in the fifth inning and an RBI double by Morris, an RBI single by Roach, and an RBI single by Crossland in the seventh inning. Despite its efforts, Hughes Springs couldn’t get over the hump.

Bri Calabria recorded the win for Lady Patriots. She allowed two runs over five innings. Bri struck out five, walked two and gave up five hits.

Morris couldn’t get it done on the rubber for Hughes Springs, taking a loss. She allowed seven runs in five innings, walked none and struck out six.

Lady Patriots closer Madi Gray put away the final six outs to record the save.

The lead stayed with Lady Patriots after the first, when it scored three runs on an error and an RBI single by Bailey Woodard.

Lady Patriots added four more runs in the bottom of the second. A scored Kaitlyn Spray to start the scoring in the inning.
