'Friends of Lake Crook' announce free outing at the lake from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday
“Friends of Lake Crook” — a group dedicated to preserving the city-owned lake as an alternative to city designs of bringing in major outside development — has announced a free “Celebrate Lake Crook” outing from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the lake.
Free hot dogs, chips and drinks will be available for all, said Jackie Alsobrook, acting co-chair of the “Friends of Lake Crook” committee.
Festivities will begin with raising of the flag, followed by the Pledge to Allegiance and singing of “God Bless America.
Among the activities that follow will include a scavenger hunt, “Beach Ball in the Air” contest, finger frisbees, and a kite-flying contest.
The recently formed organization wants to revive interest in Lake Crook after years of neglect. The group wants to create nature trails and gardens and to enhance the lake with paddle boats, kayaks, fishing boats and sailboats.
