'Friends of Lake Crook' invite supporters to 5:30 p.m. meeting today
The group trying to enlist citizen support against aggressive development of Lake Crook has scheduled its second meeting for 5:30 p.m. today at picnic tables under a pavilion at the lake.
However, because storms are in the forecast for Paris this afternoon and evening, there are contingency plans for the “Friends of Lake Crook” to meet at the Red River Valley Fairgrounds instead in the event of inclement weather.
Jackie Alsobrook, one of the organizers of the group, suggested that people go first to the meeting room in the north part of the building in which Rita Haynes’ fairground offices are located.
The meeting will either be there at 5:30 p.m. or, if not, there will be a sign directing people to go on to the planned Lake Crook site, Alsobrook said.
“Friends of the Lake Crook” prefer a quiet program of improvements at the lake free of involvement by outside investors. The organization desires to build walking paths, a children’s petting zoo, canoes and paddle boats, plus the possibility of a number of cabins that would be available for rent to lake visitors.
