Voting for City Council districts 1 and 2 is moved to northeast corner of Red River Valley Fairgrounds
The voting place for registered voters in City Council districts 1 and 2 – inner northwest and northeast Paris – has been changed.
In the past, it has been at the Westside Building inside the Red River Valley Fairgrounds.
District 1 and 2 voters will continue to go to the fairgrounds on Election Day, but from now on it will be at the Events Center at 1875 Fitzhugh St., at the northeast corner of the fairgrounds.
That is the building at the intersection of Fitzhugh and Center streets that was once contracted out for bingo games.
There is no council election for District 1 or 2 in May, but all seven city districts will be voting on a proposed $45 million bond issue to replace and extend water and sewer lines, along with repair to streets and drainage infrastructure necessitated by such construction.
Election Day voting for Districts 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 will be at the Lamar County Courthouse Annex at 231 Lamar Ave.
Early voting for all seven districts will be at the Lamar County Courthouse Annex on weekdays from Monday, April 29, through Tuesday, May 7.
