Perfect Attendance Since First Grade
Many students earn honors for grades or athletic abilities. But very few maintain perfect attendance since their first day of school.
Madeleine Hatley, a Paris High School Senior, is closing in on her 2,160th straight day of public school. Hatley is the daughter of Deborah and Dr. Richard Hatley.
For twelve years, Hatley didn’t miss school. From first grade through her senior year, the teenager was always present.
Hatley’s older brother Jonathan also had perfect attendance for his public school years. “By the end of my Freshman year, I had received many perfect attendance awards so I set the goal for all of high school too,” Hatley said.
Paris High School Principal Gary Preston said, “Obviously, she is going to be successful with that kind of work ethic. We appreciate Ms. Hatley and her parents for making school a priority.”
