Sahil Prakash has been named one of the top runners-up in The 2014 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards in Texas.  He is currently a seventh grader at Paris Junior High.

Sahil received this award based on his community service project (completed last year while a student at Crockett Intermediate) entitled “Project BIKE – Preventing Bike Injuries Keeping Everyone Safe” after a local child was injured in a bike accident. Sahil raised more than $5000 in cash and in-kind donations, distributed 200 bicycle helmets, held bicycle safety clinics, created a website with safety education resources and produced a bike safety DVD for local schools.

Sahil also received the President’s Volunteer Service Award for his work on Project BIKE and received a letter from President Barack Obama.
