North Lamar suffers first District loss against Paris High
If you like pitching, then Friday night’s game between the North Lamar Panthers and the Paris Wildcats was your type of game. Daniel Gibbons was on the mound for the Panthers while Jake Clark battled for the Wildcats.
Clark went the distance for the Wildcats as his team defeated North Lamar 6-1. He scattered seven hits and only allowed one run, while striking out 11 in the process. Gibbons, on the other side, pitched six innings, allowed four hits and struck out 10. Gibbons allowed four runs, but only two were earned as North Lamar committed four errors in the game.
The lone Panther run came off an Aaron Edwards hit in the bottom of the sixth inning, that scored Gibbons. Paris’ Drew Helberg finished with two hits and three RBI for the Wildcats in the win.
Paris broke the game open in the seventh inning with four runs. Relief pitcher Ty Jones gave up three hits and two earned runs in the inning. With the win, Paris is 1-3 in district while North Lamar moves to 3-1. The two teams will play again April 22nd at PJC.
