North Lamar's magical playoff run ends with disappointing loss to Brownsboro
It was a night in which the North Lamar Panthers couldn’t hit the shots they needed to and Brownsboro made the necessary plays in the Regional Quarter-Final game. When it was all said and done, North Lamar walked off the court in defeat as Brownsboro held on for a 59-55 victory.
After watching the Bears take a 10-point lead in the third quarter, North Lamar battled back and took a two point lead with 96 seconds left in the game. Trailing by one, Tyler Anthony took a pass at the top of the key and banked in a three-point basket to give North Lamar the 55-53 lead.
Devin McDonald stole the ball from the Bears but was forced to use a timeout in the back court. The ensuing inbounds resulted in a turnover and an easy 10 foot jump shot to tie the game by Brownsboro. With about 40 seconds left, Levi Porter had the ball stolen away from him at half court which resulted in an easy layup.
Versache Buchanan drove hard to the basket and had his game tying attempt blocked by the Bears defense. Two free-throws later and North Lamar’s season had ended.
The game really turned against the Panthers in the second quarter when they were outscored 19-11. Brownsboro guard Logan Compton came off the bench and scored 11 points in the quarter including knocking down three shots from beyond the arc.
