North Lamar Finishes 4-2 in Allen Softball Tournament
The North Lamar Pantherettes competed in the Allen Softball Tournament and finished 4-2 in the Tourney. North Lamar defeated The Colony, Royse City, WT White, and Uruline while losing to Lewisville and F. Lone Star.
North Lamar opened up the tournament with a 4-0 shutout loss to Lewisville. North Lamar’s lone hit of the game came off the bat of Tanna Huie. Lewisville scored four runs on eight hits, with all their runs coming in the fifth inning.
The second game was a much different outcome for the Pantherettes as they defeated The Colony 4-3. After giving up three runs in the first inning to The Colony, North Lamar settled down. The Pantherettes scored one in the third and three more in the fourth inning to take the lead for good. North Lamar was able to hold on for a 4-3 victory. Balee Brown and Bailey Jones each had one RBI for North Lamar. Maddison Morrison went 2-2 at the plate and scored a run.
Game three saw the Pantherettes hold onto a 6-5 lead even though Royse City outhit North Lamar 11-5. The game see-sawed back and forth through the first four innings. Tanna Huie put the Pantherettes up for good with a two-run homer that scored Sarah Penrose. Bailee Nickerson also had two RBI and Lauren Coursey had one.
Game four was the only other loss for North Lamar on the weekend as they fell to F. Lone Star 4-3. All seven runs were scored in the second inning of the game as North Lamar couldn’t overcome two errors. All four runs credited to Lone Star were unearned runs. Tanna Huie and Lindsey Cook each finished with one RBI.
Perhaps the easiest game of the tournament came against WT White as North Lamar defeated them 14-1. North Lamar capitalized on 10 errors by WT White as only two of the 14 runs were earned. Maddison Morrison pitched for the Pantherettes and only gave up two hits and one run. Delaney England went 4-4 at the plate and had three RBI for North Lamar. Sarah Penrose finished with 2 RBI as did Tanna Huie. Kayla Igleheart also added one RBI.
The Pantherettes finished out play with a 5-2 win over Ursuline. Once again the Pantherettes were able to capitalize on the mistakes of their opponents. This time it was five errors that helped North Lamar. The Pantherettes jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings before holding on for the victory. Balee Brown and Erin Scholl each had an RBI while Delaney England knocked in two runs for North Lamar.
