Pantherettes season ends with loss in Bi-District playoff Game
It’s safe to say when Quinlan Ford played the North Lamar Pantherettes on December 13th, the two teams were much different than the two that met in Sulphur Springs Tuesday night. In December, Quinlan Ford dominated the Pantherettes en route to a 56-29 victory.
Tuesday night when they met, North Lamar’s defense was night and day different from the first meeting. North Lamar held the high-powered offense to only 35 points. The problem, though, was the fact that North Lamar only managed 24 points themselves.
Quinlan Ford shot 23 three-pointers yet they only made four of them. It was a barrage of three straight, though, in the first quarter that pulled them away. Leading 5-2 halfway through the first quarter, Quinlan Ford finished the quarter on an 11-2 run with nine points coming from behind the arc.
“I thought we came out ready to play,” Coach Arledge said after the game. “They’re a good shooting team. We knew they would hit some threes. It was just we wanted to limit them and their open looks.”
The loss ends the season for the Pantherettes but it’s a season in which they should be proud. North Lamar looked dead in the playoff race after a loss to Pleasant Grove that put them at 1-6. The Pantherettes rattled off three straight wins to make the playoffs.
Not only did they make the playoffs but they gave Quinlan Ford all they could handle. Quinlan Ford came into the game ranked in the top 15 in 3A girls basketball in the State of Texas. They finished undefeated in their district as well.
