North Lamar Pantherettes Out Duel Pleasant Grove

The North Lamar Pantherettes entered Friday night’s game against with Pleasant Grove with two wins in district.  The team was coming off an impressive win against cross-town rival Paris on Monday night. Friday, the Pantherettes seemed to be riding high from Monday nights contest as they beat Pleasant Grove 45 – 35 inside Panther gym.

NL LOGOBoth teams started off slow in the first quarter as they took turns missing shots. However, it was Pleasant Grove that would get the final say in the the quarter as Faith Lipham hit a three pointer at the buzzer to put the Lady Hawks up 8-6 after one.

Kara Erickson would convert on a three-point play early in the second quarter. Erickson was hit on the arm as she went up for a shot. Halfway through the second quarter and the game tied at 11, Senior Pantherette Samantha Flippen would score four straight points and North Lamar would never look back.

Leading 20 – 14 coming out of halftime, the Pantherettes would go on a 10 – 2 run to bust the game open. North Lamar would take a 12 point lead into the final frame, and both teams would trade buckets back and forth to close out the game.

North Lamar was led in scoring by Samantha Flippen, who had 16 points. Haley Hostetler, Lexie Chancellor, and Kara Erickson each had nine points. Cozy Brown chipped in two as well.
