Lamar County Chapter of Delta Waterfowl and Paris Junior High Wood Duck Box Project

Delta Waterfowl Foundation is a Conservation Organization with a vision to secure the future of waterfowl and waterfowl hunting.  On Saturday March 3rd, the Lamar County Chapter of Delta Waterfowl along with a few kids from Paris Jr. High Outdoor Adventure Program did just this by placing Wood Duck boxes on Pat Mayse Lake.

The Lamar County Chapter holds a yearly dinner banquet as their main fundraising event and receives 25% of their net earnings to use on a local level of which they call the Waterfowl Heritage Funds.  For 2012, a portion of the Waterfowl Heritage Funds were used to purchase materials to build nesting sites for resident Wood Ducks on Pat Mayse Lake.

The students of the Outdoor Adventure Program at Paris Jr. High took on the task of building the boxes for an in school project.  Three of the students who built the boxes were able to join the Lamar Chapter on March 3rd to ride around the lake and place 25 of the boxes they built.

The day was a huge success and a special thanks go out to Paris Jr. High Outdoor Adventures Program, Capital Lumber for donating the Cedar, Blossom Hardware for the engravings on the boxes, North Texas Fab for the Predator Shields and all of the committee members of the Lamar County Chapter of Delta Waterfowl for their time and efforts to help secure the future of waterfowling.
