Christopher Clay Whitaker (1961-2014)

brown002Christopher Clay Whitaker passed away peacefully on the afternoon of July 3rd, at his home, with his family by his side.

He was born October 5, 1961 to Gail and Doyle Whitaker. His grandparents were Mr.  & Mrs. Sam Whitaker and Mr. & Mrs. Finis Gifford. He grew up in Paris and attended Paris schools where he met Amanda Brown. They were married June 28, 1985. Chris and Amanda have four children, Sarah and husband Josh Rea, Sam Whitaker, Will Whitaker and Ben Whitaker. He graduated from the University of North Texas and then accepted employment at Vought Aerospace in Grand Prairie. He returned with his family to Paris to work with his father in the construction business in 1995. He was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Paris.

A wonderful husband, caring father, and thoughtful friend, Chris was a man with a love for people. He greatly loved his church, the outdoors, his guitar, but most of all his family. He was a very caring person who has left a lasting legacy of love and will always be with us.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 P.M. Monday July 7, 2014 in First Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. till 4:00 P.M. Monday at the church.

Pallbearers are Randy Osburn, Randy Abernathy, Drew Temple, Mike Adkins, Shawn Reeves, and Mike Boswell.

The family wishes to express their deep love and appreciation for all the prayers, comfort and support extended to them over the last two years. Special gratitude goes out to Leah Denison, Gina Lancaster, Greg Crawford and all the people at Guardian Home Health, Rachel Wood and all the great people at Platinum Hospice Care, and Dr. Celeste Wilcox and all of her tremendous staff.

In lieu of flowers please send memorials to the Youth Ministry at First Baptist Church of Paris, which held a special place in Chris’ heart.
