Obituaries for June 19th

woodson001Ray Woodson, 92, of Paris passed away Monday June 16, 2014 at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday June 20 in the Chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to service from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.

Ray was born in Pattonville, Texas October 9, 1921 a son of Will and Daisy Hickey Woodson. Ray served his country in the Army in the 360th Engineer Regiment from Sept. 28, 1942 until July 2, 1945 and was in the Normandy invasion during WWII. He married Nina Prator Golden in Paris on August 24, 1958. On April 15, 1986 Ray retired from the Paris Police Department as Sergeant after 30 years of service. Ray was awarded officer of the year by the Breakfast Optimist Club in 1982. He also served on the Board of Director Trustee for Shady Grove Cemetery.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 8 brothers and 1 sister. He was the youngest of his siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Nina; step-son Burton Golden and wife Jane of Paris; grandchildren Bryan Golden and Melissa of Prosper; Beth King of Paris; great grandchildren Coby King, Isaac Golden and Kayla King; nieces Velma Salter, Thelma McDowra and Shirley Jaynes.

The Paris Police Department Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers.

Billy Charles Brown, 65, of Paris passed away Monday June 16, 2014 at his home. Cremation was arranged by Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. There will be a memorial service at a later date by family.

Billy was born November 8, 1948 in Rattan, Oklahoma a son of Charles and Dora Stevens Brown. He was a truck driver. He was married to June (Lacy) Brown who preceded him in death.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June and a son Bobby Charles Brown.

Survivors include children Angie McAdams, Sean Brown, Shane Neal Brown; Grandchildren Montana Ellis, Dalton McAdams, Maci Brown-Hilburn, Malley Brown, Baylor Brown, Ashlyn Brown, Hanna Brown, Coyote Brown, Chelsea Brown, Julliana Brown and 4 Great Grandchildren.
