Patsy Dean Slayden, 69, of Mesquite passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Paris. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 4, 2014 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Restland Cemetery in Roxton. Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
She was born on June 5, 1944 in Castor, Louisiana. Patsy retired, after 44 years, from the Bank of America and was a member of First Baptist Church in Mesquite. On September 1, 1964 she married Billy Slayden in Plano, Texas.
Survivors include her husband Bill Slayden; children Sherie Strang and husband Norman of Dallas, Randy Slayden and wife Aileen of Rockwall, and Sandy Newman and husband Lee of Mesquite; grandchildren Maya Strang, Slayden Strang, Drew Slayden, Guerin Newman, and soon to be arriving new grandson Logan Newman; brothers Duane Blake, Johnny Ray Blake and Bennette Blake. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Weaver Blake, “Boy Hal” Blake, Rush Blake and Max Stanley, and a half sister Tommie Jean.
