perry001Margie Evelyn Perry, 71, of Powderly, died at 6:23 AM, Saturday, December 7, 2013 at her home.  A memorial graveside service is set for 2:00 PM, Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Springhill Cemetery with Jimmy Haley, Jr. officiating.  Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home.

Margie was born June 21, 1942 in the Pinhook Community of Lamar County, Texas to L.W. and Maggie Sparks Barnett.  She was married to Herman Perry who preceded her in death.  Mrs. Perry was a loving and devoted homemaker for her family and was a member of the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Perry is survived by four children, Cindy Johnson and Glen Harwell of Cleveland, Texas, Tommy Huddleston and wife, Wanda of Paris, Jason Huddleston and wife, Mandy of Powderly, and Kevin Milsap and wife, Nancy of Rockwall; four step-children, Dale Perry and wife, Donna of Blossom, Diane Frair of Sherman, Darrell Perry and wife, Brenda of Sherman, and Donna Kay Perry of Temple; fifteen grandchildren and step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and four siblings, Ethel Johnson of Blossom, Linda Haley of Quinlan, Roger Barnett of Dallas, and Kathy Christian of Grand Prairie.  She was preceded in death by a son, David Huddleston; one brother, J.L. Barnett; and two sisters, Dollie Spann and Betty Smith.

burksPNShirley C. Burks, 79, of Sylvian passed away Sunday December 8, 2013 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 11th at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Bridges and Rev. Susan Butler officiating. Burial will follow in the Detroit cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 1 hour prior to service from 10 until 11 a.m.

Shirley was born November 26, 1934 in Clarksville, TX a daughter of Rush and Francis Martin Carter. She married Tommie Burks on Sept. 4, 1954 in Clarksville. She was employed by Red River Bank in Clarksville for many years. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Detroit.

She is survived by daughters Terri Whitley and husband Mike, Tammi Chockpoyah; grandchildren Shane Whitley, Ambrye Pedone, Ashley Watson, Brooks Bailey, and Brittney Anderson; a sister Virginia Browning and a sister-in-law Martha Lou Nicholas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tommie Burks.

Pallbearers will be John Watson, Lee Pedone, Dale Miller, Kevin Miller, Harold Blackburn, and Chuck Brannan.

Ret. Master Sgt.  Donald Royce Cravens, 73, of Arthur City passed away December 7, 2013 in Paris Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 2, 1940 in Arthur City, Texas a son of Walter Royce Cravens and Ludie Brown Cravens. He was a retired master sergeant in the U.S. Army. He loved crappie fishing.

He married Estelle Matlock April 1, 1970 in Paris, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2010. He was also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by step-children Gary Black, Ralph Black, Tammy Foster, Dwayne Black, Robert Black and Grayson Black; 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; brother Anthony Cravens; sisters Myra Louise Cooper, Birma Gray, JoAnn Davis, Charlotte Vanderburg, and Robbie Henson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the Red Hill Cemetery with Rev. Rocky Burrows officiating. Family will receive friends from 7:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home where online condolences may be sent by visiting www.fry-gibbs.com

James Edward “Eddie” Winters, 70, of Powderly, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at his home.

The family has scheduled a memorial service for 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 12th at the Ft. Towson Baptist Church in Ft. Towson, OK. Cremation was under the direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Eddie, the son of Floyd & Lois Fernnell Winters, was born Oct. 1, 1943, in Ft. Towson, OK. He served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam Era at Fort Eustis, Virginia as a locomotive operator. He worked for the Frisco Railroad and the Kiamichi Railroad having forty-one years of service before retirement. Eddie was an avid deer hunter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bobby Winters.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Daughtrey Winters, whom he married on April 30, 2005, a daughter, Trina Winters of Paris, two grandsons, Sydney and Branson of Paris, a brother, Mike Winters of Stillwater, OK, three sisters, Barbara Shehan of NC, Mary Westrope of Tulsa, OK and Renea Winters of Hugo, OK, two step-children, Gerald Stephens, Jr. and Jerra Foreman both of Paris, a brother-in-law, Darrell Daughtrey of Powderly along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

Maxine L. McCullough, 86, of Paris, passed away Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13th, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Ft. Worth with Rev. Terry Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. McCullough, the daughter of Arthur & Lona Martin, was born August 8, 1927, in Pitkin, LA.

She was a medication aid at a long term care facility for twenty years before her retirement. She was a member of the Family Worship Center in Paris.

Mrs. McCullough was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert McCullough, her second husband, Bud McCullough, and a son, Gary McCullough in 1969.

Survivors include three daughters, Nancy White & husband Corky of Paris, Darlene Whitehall & husband Bill of Ft. Worth and Cindy Usrey & husband Dennis of Ft. Worth, eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, a brother, Thurman Martin & wife Dorothy of Pitkin, LA, two sisters, Ozell Goodman & husband Roy of Albuquerque, NM and LaVern Hawley of Albuquerque, NM along with numerous nieces, nephews & a host of friends.
