Vickie Carol Thompson, 58, of Paris, passed away Thursday, December 05, 2013.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Monday at the funeral home.
Vickie, the daughter of James & Opal Bolton Henry, was born Aug. 9, 1955, in Paris.
She graduated from Central High School and received her nursing degree from Paris Junior College. She worked at both L. P. McCuistion Regional Medical Center and St. Joseph’s Hospital until her health forced her retirement.
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Bobby Joe Thompson, two sisters, Sherry Ray & Charlotte Darnell and a great-nephew, Dakota Ray Tidwell.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby, two children, Brandy Guerrero & husband Raul of Paris and Bobby Wayne Thompson & wife Mandy of Grand Prairie, one step-son, Shawn Thompson, four grandchildren, Kaleb, Daniel, Joshua and Dakota Guerrero, two step-grandchildren Ashley & Josh McKillop, a brother, Michael Henry & wife Gail of Venus along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends.

Frances Virginia Cooper Taylor, 81, of Paris, passed away Saturday December 7, 2013 at Legend Health Care. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday Dec. 11 at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry McDowell officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Chapel cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday 7-8 p.m.
She was born May 17, 1932 in Chicota a daughter of Stance and Ludie Mae Armstrong Sparks. She was married to Ernest Taylor who preceded her in death. She worked at Hollywood Vassarette and later opened and owned the Vogue of Paris Dress Shop. She was a member of the BPW club. She attended the Gospel Lighthouse in Powderly where her brother the late James Sparks was pastor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Stance and Ludie Mae Sparks; brothers Rev. James Aaron Sparks, Jack Sparks and wife Norma Bell; and a sister-in-law Merlene Sparks.
She is survived by her children Linda and Phillip Battle, Margo and Lonnie Spencer; grandchildren Lisa Battle, Kristi Routon, Clay Spencer and wife Kellie, Jay Spencer and wife Kimberly; great grandchildren Ryan and Blaine Hatcher; Zachary, Jared and Madison Kate Routon; Colton, Luke and Rylee Spencer; Draven and Mason Spencer; brothers, Gene Sparks, Jerry Sparks and wife Judy, Wayne Sparks, Michael Sparks; sisters Gloria Shadwell and Amelia Harris and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons Ryan Hatcher, Blaine Hatcher, Zachary Routon, Jared Routon, Clay Spencer and Jay Spencer. Honorary pallbearers will be Colton Spencer, Luke Spencer, Draven Spencer, Mason Spencer, Rylee Spencer and Madison Kate Routon.

Billy Joe Pool, 74, of Paris, died at 8:45 PM, Thursday, December 5, 2013 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 12, 2013 in the chapel of Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Diana Russell officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time prior to the service on Thursday. Fry & Gibbs Funeral home has charge of the arrangements.
Billy Joe was born May 14, 1939 in Paris to Floyd Taylor and Geneva Pherigo Pool. He married Darlene Smith on March 6, 1961 in Paris. She died November 11, 1996. Mr. Pool was an electrician for DeRose Mobile Home Manufacturing Company in Bonham for several years before his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Pool is survived by two children, Debra Michael and husband, Howard and Dennis Joe Pool and wife, Lori; five grandchildren, Sarah Wlodarczak and husband, Scott, Brandy Dixon and husband, Cody, Lonnie Michael and wife, Michelle, D.J. Pool and wife, Jacque, and Heather Pool; four great-grandchildren, Austin Wlodarczak, Gage Jones, Kolton Pool, and Keiston Pool; four brothers, Dean, Floyd Ray, Mike, and Jackie Pool; and four sisters, Helene Thompson, Mary Griffin, Martha Copeland, and Betty Ann Tubb. He was preceded in death by a son, Danny Pool and one brother, Alvie Pool.
Pallbearers will be Lonnie Michael, Austin Wlodarczak, Keith Pool, Cody Dixon, Josh Jones, Joe Miller, and D.J. Pool.
BENNY DON RHODES, 77, of Paris, died at 10:09 PM, Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at his home following a long battle with cancer. Funeral services are set for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at East Paris Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Fortenberry and Rev. Donnie Edwards officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Monday evening at the funeral home. A private family burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Benny was born July 11, 1936 in Bogata, Texas to Collie Ray and Thelma Burks Rhodes. He served in the United States Air Force and graduated from Paris Junior College. He married Bettie Hill on March 17, 1961 in Paris. He owned and operated Discount Home Improvements from 1970 until his retirement in 2000. Mr. Rhodes also served as a Baptist minister for several local churches for almost 20 years. He was a member of East Paris Baptist Church.
His greatest enjoyment in life was his family and his work. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but he received great satisfaction in mowing and maintaining his grounds around his home.
Mr. Rhodes is survived by his wife, Bettie Rhodes; daughter, Kathy Clemmer and husband, Brian of Blossom; son, Brad Rhodes of McKinney; daughter-in-law, Vanessa Rhodes of Paris; eight grandchildren, Cole and Clay Clemmer of Blossom, Jordon Rhodes of Lake Kiowa, Caitlyn Rhodes of Arlington, Scottie Rhodes of Blossom, Shelbie Rhodes, Colbey Rhodes, and Bailey Rhodes, all of Paris; five great-grandchildren; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by one son, Bryan Rhodes on May 9, 2013; his parents; two brothers, Charles and John Rhodes; and his sister, Ruth Grimes.
Pallbearers will be Cole Clemmer, Clay Clemmer, Kevin Wood, Robert Crawford, Jim Lassiter, Bud Gordon, Richard Grimes, and Mike Rhodes.
