Grace Marie Nicholson Carter went home to her Lord on October 23, 2013. She was born in Pattonville, Texas on November 20, 1926 to Floyd and Mae Lee Nicholson. Grace had one sister, Mary Gladys Echols of Pattonville and Paris and was married 54 years to J.T. Carter of South Carolina. All of these family members preceded her in death.
Grace lived up to her name and was a delight to be around! She worked for the American Red Cross in several locations over numerous years. Her outgoing personality made her an excellent switchboard operator at Campbell Soup Company when they first opened in Paris. She was a member of First Baptist Church and worked as secretary for many years, dearly loving her job and church. Grace was an interviewer for Texas Employment Commission for 15 years and took great interest in each person she referred and placed in a new job.
Over her lifetime, Grace was involved in numerous organizations. She worked and volunteered at the American Red Cross, held leadership positions in the Berean Bible Club, volunteered for RSVP, was active in First Baptist Church 55+ and Keenagers. Grace loved to travel and looked forward to the many trips with the senior adult groups and vacationing with her husband, J.T., in Florida. She was always ready to get with friends for coffee and dessert. She loved to cook, visit, laugh and she loved her family. Her faith in Jesus Christ was strong and her desire to be with Him in heaven was evident in her last years.
