RAY EDWARD KARRER, 78, of Paris, died at 8:30 PM, Saturday, October 12, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 5:30 PM, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Calvary United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Read officiating. Burial will be in the Monthalia Cemetery on Saturday. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday evening at the funeral home. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the following: The Wesley Campus Ministry Building Fund in care of Calvary United Methodist Church of Paris, Texas, the Youth Building Fund of Calvary UMC, the Prison Ministry in care of Calvary UMC, the Drama Scholarship Fund of Paris Junior College, or the organization or charity of the donor’s choice.

TEX HORTON, 82, of Forest Chapel, entered Heaven’s gates at 3:00 AM, Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM, Thursday, October 17, 2013 at the Chicota Baptist Church with Bro. Rocky Burrow and longtime family friend, Bro. Edward Bullard officiating. Burial will be at Forest Chapel Cemetery. The family will greet friends beginning at 1:30 PM Thursday until service time prior to the service at the church. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Tex was born June 19, 1931 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Roy Lee and Versie Evelyn Hadaway Horton. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and returned home and married Lola Belle Slagle on October 28, 1954 in Texarkana, Texas. Tex was a lifelong farmer and rancher and retired from Campbell Soup Company after 30 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Mr. Horton was a common man who loved nature and tilling the soil. He was a devoted son, husband, and father to his family. He will be truly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Horton of the home; three children, Rochelle Powers and husband, Bill of Edmond, Oklahoma, Tex Reginald Horton and wife, Deborah of Forest Chapel, and Cassie Chaverria and husband, Tele of Telephone; ten grandchildren, Brian Powers and wife, Jodell of Fort Worth, Brooke Newman and husband, Sean of Tyler, Autumn Parsons and husband, Ty of McKinney, Jade Powers of Edmond, John Micah Horton Powers of Edmond, Shane Horton of Arlington, Monica Wilkins and husband, Mike of Grant, Oklahoma, Eric Chaverria and wife, Randi of Honey Grove, Ezekiel Chaverria of Mesquite, and McCade Chaverria and wife, Sara of Sherman; eleven great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Ryker, Jacob and Greyson Chaverria, Trail and Rainin Wilkins, Adrienne, Ava, Isla, and Zoey Newman, and Eavie Powers; two brothers, Troy Horton and wife, Carolyn and family of Hurst, Texas, and Travis Horton and wife, Patsy and family of Omaha, Nebraska; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Geraldine Duncan and family, Dale and Joyce Vanderburg and family, and Robert and Minnieyon Hensley and family; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Juanita Arnold, and one brother, Truman Horton.
Pallbearers will be Brad Vanderburg, Brian Hensley, John Micah Powers, Brian Powers, Shane Horton, Eric Chaverria, Ezekiel Chaverria, and McCade Chaverria. Asked to be honorary pallbearers are Merrel Vanderburg, Jheison Rojas, Wayland White, Tom Summers, Clark Pugh, Jordy Brown, Chad Hensley, Kyle Hensley, Dale Vanderburg, Robert Hensley, Winford Duncan, Scott Vanderburg, great grandson Ryker Chaverria and special friend Bud Sumrow.

Lorene Hatcher Gross, 87 years died Monday, October 14, 2013 at Paris Regional Medical Center. Services are scheduled for 11:00 am on Thursday, October 17, 2013 at Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eddie Hyatt and Charles Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7-8 pm at the funeral home.
Lorene, the daughter of Wade & Lillie Cox Hatcher was born in Sylvan, TX on October 29, 1925. She married Arnold Gross on May 28, 1951. They were managers of several steak houses in the Dallas area before becoming pastors of Miracle Revival Center in Reno and later in Garland, TX. Her parents, husband, brother George (Sonny) Hatcher and brothers-in-laws Gary Rodgers and Ray Barnett preceded her in death. Survivors include two sisters, Shirley Barnett and Linda Rodgers both of Paris, niece Diane Howard and husband, Dwain Howard of Spring, TX; niece Kelly Frazier and husband, Drake Frazier and son Barkley Coker of Houston, TX; nephews, Shane and wife Becky Hatcher and Stacy and wife Melanie Hatcher both of Paris; and, niece, Tamara Hatcher. Her family would like to thank the staff of Brentwood Terrace-Lighthouse Nursing Home for the care of their loved one. Lorene loved her Lord and family always ready to give a helping hand when needed. She will be greatly missed.
