Gordon Lewis Davis, 92, went to meet his Lord on January 25, 2013, at his home in Emberson, Texas, where he was cared for by his loving wife.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 11:00 a.m. Monday, Jan. 28th, at Emberson Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Reed officiating and military honors rendered by the U. S. Navy. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
He was born April 26, 1920, in Ada, Kentucky, to Ida (Burtram) and John Davis, and was raised in St. Joseph, Illinois. He served in the U. S. Navy during WW II. Gordon started working as a printer at the age of 16 and retired in 1980. He married June (Eisman) Jett on Jan. 18, 1981, in Rockville, Indiana and both moved to the Paris, Texas area in 1988. He came out of retirement and worked in the printing business again, so his wife could achieve her life long goal of becoming a Registered Nurse.
He was a dear and loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved to do wood working, pecan cracking, gardening and most of all mowing grass, which he was still doing last summer. He said that moving to Texas was the best thing that he had ever done except for marrying June.
He will be missed by all, especially by his family and church family at Emberson Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sisters Vivian McCarty, Ruby Burke, Molly Champion, brothers Roscoe, John, and Tom Davis, and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Jett.
He leaves behind wife June, sons Robert Jett of San Marcos and Raymond Jett & wife Robin of Highland Village, grandsons Ryan Jett, David Jett, Christopher and Patrick Taylor, six great grandchildren, one sister, Deva Barnes along with many nieces & nephews and daughters Nancy and Betty of California.
