James Earl Donham, 66, of Roxton passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013 at his residence.
James was born on March 27, 1946 in Roxton a son of James Madison (Matt) and Gladys Jeter Donham. He was retired from Kimberly Clark, was a member of the Roxton First Baptist Church, and a member of American Legion Post 30. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Bar, Expert Rifle Bars and Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Citation Badge. James liked to hunt, fish, play dominoes and enjoyed joking around with his family and friends. He loved to be with his grandchildren. On December 31, 1991 he married Teresa Porterfield in Paris, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ellis, Johnnie, Matt Jr., and Wayne Donham, and a sister Bonnie Ortego.
James is survived by his wife Teresa; children Tony Donham and wife Connie of Amarillo, Roddy Allen and wife Teresa of Paris and Tina Meruelo and husband Gabe of Merrit Island, Florida; grandchildren Paige Donham, Macy Allen, Linda Meruelo, Gabe Jr. Meruelo, Grayson Meruelo, Corey Allen, and Joey Allen; great grandson Trace Donham; sisters Mary Lou Branum, Ruby Rich, and Pat Emery; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Bro. Jackie Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Restland Cemetery at Roxton with military honors provided by U.S. Honor Guard from Ft.Hood. Pallbearers will be Larry McClendon, Ross Frazier, Terry Burkett, Craig Hattneville, Jimmy Fletcher, and Josh Springer. Honorary pallbearers will be his coffee shop buddies Kenneth Springer, Bob Spillman, Billy Hornbuckle, Denny Huggins, Larry Roberts, Hubert McClean, John Duke, and Allen Hughes. Sharon Ann Sweet, 66, of Paris died Monday December 31, 2012 at her home. Cremation was arranged by Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home. Services will be held at a later date.
She was born in California a daughter of Jerry Wesley and Vera Gertrude Green Tarrwater. She was a homemaker and a member of the Living Word Assembly of God.
Survivors include her children Steven Sweet of Ada, OK, David Sweet of Paris, Sherry Sweet of Lawton, OK, Tina Bradley of Hickory, OK; 13 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren.
Robert Lee Lester, 75, of Paris, passed away Monday, January 07, 2013, at his home.
Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services at the funeral home chapel for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9th with Rev. Scotty Parnell officiating. Burial will follow in Detroit Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Lester, the son of Rufus & Johnnie Magalene Rankin Lester, was born Dec. 18, 1937, in Unity, TX.
He was a truck driver and enjoyed coon hunting and dog trading.
His wife, Cherry Lynn Smith Lester, preceded him in death on August 18, 2012.
Survivors include five children, Rufus Charles Lester & wife Nancy of Sumner, John Robert Lester & wife Cheth of Lamar Point, James Smith & wife Kellie of Paris, Shirley Harris & husband George of Paris and Robert D. Smith & wife Laura of Paris, twenty grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one sister, Barbara Anderson & husband Toby Mansell of Paris along with many friends.
Casket bearers will be: James Smith, Robert D. Smith, John Robert Lester, Jeremy Smith, Landon Smith, & Ryan Smith.
