J. D. Polk, 91, of Paris, passed away Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at Paris Regional Medical Center.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene Adams and Rev. Daniel Hines officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
J. D., the son of Emmett & Nancy Jane Johnson Polk, was born Aug. 1, 1921, in Vasco, Texas. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. On May 21, 1940, he married Jane Holland, building 72 years of family and memories.
He was a farmer on the Rio Grande River near Mercedes before moving to Grand Prairie where he worked at Ling Temco Vought until retirement. Following retirement from LTV he began junking, which was a great enjoyment to him. He was known at the Flea Market on Ft. Worth Avenue, as “Junking J. D.”. In 1989, he and Jane moved to Paris where he attended Pathway International Church of God. He spent countless hours at his two homes away from home: The Cattlemen’s Livestock Commission on Clement Road and Bright-Holland Funeral Home where he enjoyed coffee, cookies and visiting with all the employees
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Delilah South, Adra McLarty and Dovie Deweese.
Survivors include his wife, Jane, one daughter, Brenda Watson of Paris, four grandchildren, Jarvis Watson & wife Reneé of Cunningham, Deana Blevins & husband Reese of Blossom, Brad Watson of Taylortown and Bruce Watson of Reno, great grand children, Jalon Watson, Jardin Watson, Trig Watson, Dillon Gibson & wife Hayley, Rustin Blevins & wife Taylor, Jordan Blevins, JaNaé Blevins, Brooklyn Legate, Bradlee Watson & wife Brittnee, Brett Watson & wife Courtney, Gavin Watson and Kenleigh Watson, great great grandchildren, Karter Gibson, Camdyn Watson and Baylon Watson, a brother, Stanley Polk of Vasco, his caregivers to whom the family will be forever grateful, Glenna Kelley, Charles Nichols and Angie Stringer along with several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Casket bearers will be: Jarvis Watson, Brad Watson, Bruce Watson, Bradlee Watson, Brett Watson, Dillon Gibson, Reese Blevins and Holland Russell.

GABRIEL LEE McFATRIDGE, seven day old infant son of Ralph Lee McFatridge and Jana Lynn Faulkner Mobley, entered the arms of Jesus at 3:20 AM, Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Medical City in Dallas. A graveside service is set for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Long Cemetery near Powderly with Elder Jimmie Stripland officiating. Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
Gabriel was born October 20, 2012 at Medical City in Dallas.
He is survived by his mother, Jana Mobley of Powderly and his father, Lee McFatridge of Arthur City; his sister, Abby Mobley; and grandparents, Benjy and Connie Faulkner of Powderly and Ralph and Janice McFatridge of Arthur City.
